 | | | | AEP Wins Funding for Course and Program Development The National Collegiate Investors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) has awarded the Austin Entrepreneurship Program $32,000 for course and program development. Course and Program grants are awarded to institutions for the purpose of strengthening existing curricular programs or building new programs in invention, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The grant will support course development, provide seed funds for student E-Teams and cover an evaluation of the program. Through E-Teams, students will learn how to work as a team to develop a start-up idea in technology, research or small business. They will be taught and mentored by industry professionals, who, together with OSU faculty, will guide the students through the process of creating a business plan and applying for seed funding. The grant will support AEP program goals to provide incentives for innovative students to become actively involved in entrepreneurship, expose students to the requirements of entrepreneurship in a startup context and provide a starting point for the launch of student-innovated businesses.
According to Mark Green, who helped initiate the proposal, reviewers liked what they read of the program and found the residential aspect to be innovative. Sara Zaske and Lori Sweeney with the OSU Foundation worked with Green and other COB faculty to write and develop the successful proposal. |
