Amory Lovins to Speak on April 5 as Part of "Is Sustainability Good Business" Emerging Topics in Business Seminar Series

Amory Lovins, CEO, Rocky Mountain Institute; and Hank Patton, founder and Chairman, World Steward; will discuss "New Jobs and New Markets in Long Term Wealth Creation" on April 5 from 6-7:20 p.m. at Milam Auditorium on the OSU campus.

Lovins and Patton are the first speakers in the 2004 Emerging Topics in Business seminar series focused on "Is Sustainability Good Business."  The series, occuring every Monday evening through May 17, will focus on the relationship between business and sustainability. The series will:

  • Examine the environmental, economic, social and ethical dimensions of sustainability;
  • Explore sustainability in different industries and its impact on the Oregon and US economy; and
  • Assess successes and failures in implementing sustainable business practices.

Lovins is a nationally recognized scientist and consultant whose work has promoted resource efficiency, in fields ranging from automobiles to energy, as a solution to a variety of economic, social and environmental problems.

Patton founded World Steward, a non-profit organization working on economic and cultural partnerships that align the interests of today with the interests of future generations.
